Default Hobie Maiden Voyage

<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal> I picked up a new Hobie on Friday from Key Sailing on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1lace w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Pensacola</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Beach</st1:PlaceType></st1lace>. Many have said on PFF that the guys at Key Sailing are great and that Kirk, the owner will take good care of you. I could not agree more and am so stoked about my new Hobie Outback kayak!!!<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal> I met <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Brandon</st1lace></st1:City> on Sat. afternoon and he did a great job on getting me all set up for my trial run as a proud owner of more than one Hobie himself. The wind was blowing pretty good at 15-20 mph, but my 1st reaction when we launched about 4pm was how much of a ?breeze? peddling was compared to all the paddling I have done. I was worried about my 1st trial run in a Hobie Outback around bridge pilings and choppy conditions, so I began by using an anchor at first, but then realized it was easy to get the hang of and steer around the structure. I felt so stable thatI didn?t even worry aboutany wave action.<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>Of course, I had to bring poles and fish duringmy test run. Since it was my 1st fishing trip since 11/1/09, I was anxious to try out my American Rodsmiths Kayak Fishing rod and new reel which ended up performing beautifully! I caught my 1st kayak sheepshead and 1st kayak black drum and had forgotten how tastie they are. <P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><o></o><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>Here is the count:<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>An 18-inch &amp; 21-inch black drum, anundersized sheepie and one 19-inch sheepie all on my new light tackle rod. <st1lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Brandon</st1:City></st1lace> caught 3 sheepies to round out a successful fishing outing. <P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>I knew I would like the Hobie, but I had no idea how MUCH I would like it!! I?ll create a separate post on what lead metowards itlater, but here on the pics:<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal>

Congrats on the new Hobie kayak. You now understand why the Hobie crowd goes on so much about what great kayaks Hobie makes. Good fishing on your first trip with your Outback! Grreat to see you add two species to your kayak catches.

Got my wife a Hobie sport a little shorter then the outback but that's just fine with her. Her Birthday is this Thursday but I got her the Kayak Saturday as a surprise. She has not stopped talking about it. Kirk at Keysailing set me up also and I could not ask for better service. She wants to get on the water as soon as possiable. Maybe this weekend weather is going to be warm enough. His and hers Hobies makes for a happy marriage.
