Ditto what everyone has said about going to either Key Sailing or Pensacola Kayak and Sail. Different kayaks fit different body sizes. You need to take a few for a test drive. As for size, think about where you're going to be using your 'yak the most often. Stability can bereeeeeeaaaaallllll important when you're out in the Gulf.If it's going to be mostly inshore, you can get away with a smaller, lighter 'yak. Check out the local kayak fishing club's website - www.gulfcoastkayakfishing.com. There is alot of information there, as well.

IMHO, I wouldn't have anything but a Hobie Mirage. The hands-free aspect, regardless of speed and other things, trumps everything else for me. Again, that's just me.

If you are looking for a hands free ride, don't count out the Native Ultimate Propel. The Hobie has it beat if you are dead set on a SOT, but the natives seating, ability to stand and fish, and the ability to reverse is awesome. I switched from a Hobie to a native 3 months ago, and so far, I have appreciated the native's maneuverability more and more.
