Bayou Country

This might be (and probably is) a dumb question, but does everyone here who hunts turkey also hunt deer? I am asking because i am just starting out, and really only plan on hunting turkey. I am going as a guest to where several guys from work hunt to learn the ropes, but then should i try to find a club/lease to join or is it just as good to hunt public land? If any of you only hunt turkey what do you do?

I do deer hunt (almost entirely bow/blackpowder) but turkey hunting is my passion. While I do enjoy hunting public land, pressure is at an all time high and the birds/hunters can be really tough. My suggestion would be to find a lease with a good number of birds. Even better would be to find some landowners who will allow you to hunt. I realize that finding private land is like pullin' hens teeth but it's really worth the effort. I have been lucky enough to have family land as well as several thousand acres of private land to hunt for the last 25 years so I am pretty spoiled. Do some research and alot of leg work and you'll find some good spots

I have absolutely no interest in deer hunting. But will spend just about all turkey season in the woods. I hunt public land (Eglin)
