Hey. I'm wanting to take a do it yourself bow hunting trip to Missouri this fall. I plan on hunting public lands and was hoping for some input on where to hunt, camp etc. Also what are the temps usually like in early October? Any help that I can get would be appreciated. Thanks.

i dont know whether your gun or bow hunting, but from what i understand the bowhunting only land is less prussered and more promising i know a few guys who went a couple years back and took some fine bucks one of them was a gross boone, somewhere on the net you can print like a 40 page book that list all the public land and info on it.

Here's a link that should be helpful. Hit the "view region map" link and it lists the counties. There is alot of public land to hunt. Think north!

Send me a PM with your phone number on it. I'll call you and we can talk. Lots of good land up there, especially for bow.

Missouri is a huge state. I lived there for twenty years, Kansas City, Sedalia, and Springfield. Most counties have some public land, may be small but it's public. Besides the Conservation Commission public lands there is th Mark Twain National Forests that covers a huge part of the state and has great hunting. I would suggest that you fist decide what area/region you wish to hunt, then concentrate your research for that region. There are huge deer in the central and north parts of the state, but a lot more wooded area and more deer in the sounthern part of the state. Good luck.
