So I have to say that I feel more prepared for this year than I ever have! However I just can't say that I have put much thought into using grunts, antlers or calls in Blackwater.. Seriously, how many of you guys actually use this in Blackwater? I had the ol' calf in a can thing a few years ago and never, not once, saw any result of it. So... To grunt or not to grunt?
Sent from the woods, or a tree, or a dirt road, maybe the boat.... Or on my butt behind a desk stuck in the damn office!
We have killed a bunch of bucks during bow season with a grunt. After bow season I don't use it. The only can call I have is the smallest 1. Works great for a doe.
Deer will grunt year round for different reasons, me personally during bow season leave the grunt at home until pre-rut, then I use one every trip. I like rolling a can early season, have gotten the curiosity of many deer with the can.
I do sometimes feel like I may spook some deer using a grunt, but when you have one come busting in you ready to whip some azz, it outweighs the spooking risk to me.
I figured it would be like this lol a mixture of everything! Being a beginner and learning as I go, I guess I just need to learn to use the right one and when lol! I know something this little is something I shouldn't be stressing about, but I just don't want to go another season scoreless! Lol thanks guys!

Best way to see a buck in December (not counting a corn pile) is to "tinkle" a set of horns.....just a little friendly bumping.
Oh and since your new the best tip is to listen for an owl to hoot. It's a PFF fact that deer are up and moving if owls are hootin'
