Default Stradic 3000FI binding bail

I recently replaced my Shimano Stradic 2500FH due to it just being slap worn out. I decided to go with the 3000FI for the increased line capacity. However, on one occassion about every 25th cast or so, when I go to flip the bail I can tell something is binding inside. It feels like it opens about 7/8th's of the way, then the last little bit makes a crunch sound, then opens. I know this is not right, so I've put the reel up the day it happened and am contemplating sending it in for repair, but I'll be without my "go to" reel for a while, which sucks. Has anyone ever experienced this? All help appreciated.

Sounds like your bail spring may have popped out of place. It's just a matter of probably 2 screws on the bail mechanism. If you do it wrong though the spring may fly out. If you don't feel comfortable there should be someone around that repairs reels, or can get you another bail spring if yours gets lost.
