I am looking at a couple of tanks that are stamped DOT-3AL3000AS45694-M4002-01 95-S80. A couple of questions: 1. Can these tanks have hydro and viz done? 2. How long before these tanks are non-reuseable? 3. What do these numbers represent? I know the Al means aluminum, the 3000 is the psi spec, but what about the other numbers.

The tanks in good shape should be useable for at least another 10-15 years, maybe more. The numbers are: 3AL - DOT permit number 3000 - service pressure AS45694 - Serial number M4002 - Manufacturers number assigned by DOT - in this case - Catalina 01 95 - Original hydro date - Jan of 95 S80 - Standard 80 |
