Looks good, Mares makes good stuff, and the price looks good as well.
Check With MBT DIVERS to see if you can get a local deal for a similar price.
If money is an issue check out my used rig for sale on PFF

I like Mares regs. I've got an old one that still works perfectly. Bought it used when I started diving, so I have no idea exactly how old it is or how many dives are on it. I'd guess the thing is probably near 20 years old.

I've never used a Mares BC, so can't comment on them.

Like Scott suggested, give one of the local shops a chance at meeting that price. I use MBT and would recommend them to anyone.

The Mares r2 first stage is a low end piston, and the rebel second stage and octo can be difficult to get adjusted properly - we've found lots of internal spring problems with them. The spirit BC is not weight integrated and was originally designed as a rental unit, so it doesn't have many features.
We have the spirit in stock at MBT if you'd like to take a look, and we can go through the different regs with you so that you'll know what you are getting.
We have equipment packages with weight integrated BC's starting at $599.
