SS shafts???

Questions: Are all speargun shafts made out of spring steel? If you heat them, will they maintain their form if you were to try and bend them into a particular shape, and can you buy blanks, without any notches cut for bands or the riffe sharkfin tabs? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

By the way...rigged my gun up with the riding rig style...insanely awsome! 2 dives yesterday, shot 8 fish. I love it it...it solves almost every headache of shooting.
