Default Speargun before and after

A couple weeks ago I asked about refinishing my speargun on here. I got some good advice and tackled the gun today. Here are the before and after pics. I was amazed at how dull the padauk wood was. Padauk wood has a rich red color naturally. Well I found the natural red. I used some brightner as well to brighten that red color. Sanded all the gloss sealer off, brightened it, and oiled it with teak oil.

After:

It just might. Thanks for the compliment on the gun ass. To give you a reference, it's a 63" gun. That bigger snapper was 35".

Yep, it was all scratched and dinged. But it had a sealer on it, not oiled. So everywhere the sealer was chipping off, it was allowing water to get into the wood and causing it to deteriorate. So, I went the oiled route this time. Now as the scratches and dings happen, it will not cause the wood to deteriorate.

And yes, I like my pretty speargun.:moon:moon And it just might cause the fish to get bigger that end up on the shaft. Who knows.
