First off thanks to MBT for putting on a great tournament. We just dove Sat. due to work and other stuff. Went far first and had good vis around 50 feet just no tournament winners. Did shoot a 5.1 trigger and dive buddy got a Shovel nose lobster. Second spot Vis suck. Third spot had lots of fish no winners. So we got to dive and get our Snapper on. It was a blast. Did go weigh the trigger it was in first for at least 5 min. Also got to see the 22.1 snapper at weigh in that SOB was a stud. Congrats to the winners hope everybody made it home safe. Maybe next year. I'll post pics when the get emailed to me.

Yes we definitely had a blast, no winning fish but a great day on the water and being my first time to spearfish and shooting 2 snapper and 1 trigger (snapper & trigger on same shot!) Everyone made it back to the ramp safe and I didn't have to cut my anchor line! Everyone on the boat knows what happened there. Thanks MBT and to everyone on the boat, I had a blast!

I think everyone except a few just had a hard time finding those tournament winning fish. You should have seen the winning 32 lb snapper if you thought the 22 pounder was big.

wish i would have seen the 4ft shark following a turtle.
Jon is right, that 32lb snapper was a hog. Really nice fish. Only got out on Saturday, and dives went 'cant see speartip' followed by 'nothing to shoot' and last dive of burn a full tank shooting fish but none were tournament fish. Tough day on the water, we were all pretty wore out from the 1.3 or 1.6ft waves. I think NOAA needs to check their bouys, or find out if they are reading in metric... Thanks again to MBT for a fun tournament. |
