Default River Lake -

Fished a swamp lake off Mitchell River this morning. No water running through the swamp so the lake was in perfect condition. Marked fish all over the place in deep water but could not get them to bite when I got around to trying.

Started off using minnows for crappie but struck out in that department. Switched to crickets and ended up catching 12 and kept 9 .. No bragging size but decent. First bream I have caught in a good while.

At the end of fishing I got a brush hookup with the pole and the boat swung around into a treetop in the water....the fish finder went crazy beeping. This told me I should have probably been working the tree falls better than I did, but it was time to quit and head home. Maybe next time if I can get back in there which will be doubtful if the water drops another 8 or 10 inches.

Jumped 3 turkeys going through the creek to the lake. Have never seen any turkeys in there before.

Made a video of return trip.

yep, caught crappie good in there about 4 weeks ago. Hoped to do it again yesterday but no dice. I bet you had a real challenge getting in there if you had a big bass boat. I did get a few bream and a report from a buddy yesterday from the lower river was good. Looks like the spring fishing season is starting up .

I've got a 17 ft xpress, wasn't a problem at all. It floats super shallow
