Default Fundy Bayou & Catfish Basin

I launched at 8 AM Thursday morning in Bayou Funday and had no luck with the bass in bayou. So I got a bucket full of bull minnows at the bayou mouth and drifted them on the bottom from Bayou Funday almost all the way across Blackwater Bay, all I got was sail cats. Then I motored up into Catfish Basin as the tide was almost max and fished the grass line for bass and only caught 2 ten inchers. Drifted with the wind back out of Catfish Basin dragging bull minnows again with no results.

At 1 pm I started back into the bayou mouth to call it quits but decided to try the shoreline along Grassy Point. Using a two inch Rapala floating minnow I caught two 15" and one 16" redfish and missed a few. All the while I was dragging a bull minnow on a stingray grubbehind the boat. Suddenly something exploded behind the boat and I turned to see my UglyStick bent double, before I could drop my spinning rod and stumble across the boat the line snapped (24lb PowerPro) before I could get it out of the pole holder. The water was less than 3 feet deep but I only saw a few big boils headed towards the middle of the bay. By 2 pm it is what too hot to enjoy it, so I headed home for a swim in the lake, chicken for dinner again!

Thanx for the report, Mike. It sounds like you were about to have a good day, before the sun kicked in.
