Bream and shellcrackers - river fishing

Fished about 4 hours off Mitchell River again today in a lake. Similar to my last trip in that area the sonar found plenty of fish, but with little action. However, with help from one of my regular fishing partners we managed 26 bream and shellcrackers. The usual bait...crickets and worms.

We encountered a spot where we felt almost certain crappie were spawning. We were very careful but they would not take a worm or cricket. Having caught them on crickets before we hoped that would be he case today. Nada! We didn't have crappie tackle and jigs or minnows so may have missed out on a good crappie catch.

Anyway, the water is still cold and the bite is not fast and furious...but there was enough action to bring home some really nice size fish.
