Left the dock saturday morning around 9AM and set a course for horn mountain. Somewhere near the pinnacles in about 270' of water I found a sheet of ply wood. Get up next to it and see that there are some dolphins handing around. Threw out some pogies chunks and got'em fired up. Crew had a blast with the spinners and we managed two bulls and one cow.
Continue to head south. See one nice push just north of beer can and another in between horn and marlin. The area between horn and marlin looked real fishy. Thousands of flyers and a few small pushes. We should have put a spread out and gave it a shot but we had tuna on the brain. Got to horn around 2PM. Trolled, live baited, chunked, jigged, popped...just about everything in the playbook but no tuna just blackfin. Around 10PM flyers make their presence and blackfin get thick. Still no yellowfin. Around midnight I make a run to Ram. Blackfin are thick but no yellowfin. Around 1AM decided to ditch and head for home. Our junior crew, Shane Martin, ended up winning first place in the PFRA tournament with his dolphin. Congrats Shane. Keith, 'Lil Kahuna' |

Thanks for the pic Keith. All that talk about wanting blue water at the rigs and then we get it and strike out. Yesterday I was over it... now all I'm thinking about is re-rigging and going to the canyon. You ready...:usaflag

Nice dolphin Keith. I'm hoping you got one on a particular rod someone made for you.

Chris,
You'll be happy to know that the larger dolphin was caught on the rod you built. Also caught a few blackfin with the rod throwing poppers.I can sling a popper a mile with that rod. Love it! Keith |
