Late report 5/30 Our first and second YFT

The sun was coming up as we left the pass at Orange Beach. We headed toward Petronious. the water was nice at first but quickly got rough at about 5 miles out. We put some lines out when we got to the rig and caught our first YFT on the second pass.

Nothing but sharks and cudas after that. We ran to the Marlin and started jigging. We put several nice Almaco in the box. Several were partial fish due to the sharks and cudas. As we drifted away from the rig, Jake hooked something much larger while jigging with a spinning reel and 25lb test.

After about 40 minutes of fighting and way to much coaching from Dad and Uncle Brad, the fish got close enough to see. It was a 30 lb YFT. Ihad a shot with the gaff but missed.

I got another shot about 10 minutes later and got him this time.

Abotu 10 seconds after the fish hit the deck a large hammerhead came up to the boat to see what was going on.

The ride back in was very rough and wet but the yellowfin were worth it.

It was a fun trip. Jake's tuna sure tasted good.

Heck yeah. Those are some nice fish. Grats to the yunguns.

Great job guys! Now they are hooked for life. Can't wait to get my boy on a yellowfin. Thanks for the report.
