Had a nice ride out to the edge from OB Tues morn and then started trolling north to the nipple area. Blue-green water with lots of scattered grass. For some reason, the starboard flat and outrigger kept attracting grass but the port side stayed clean; maybe a sign of what was to come! As we trolled north, the wind freshened out of the north and seas started to pick up. Out of the North?; in July??, WTF,. Somewhere about 10:45, this ****** starts knocking the fool out of my dolphin colored teaser about 12' in back of the boat (on the port side)!!! I reel my port side flat line up about even with him and the fish turns toward it and starts off with it. Let it freespool and come tight and it's there for about 5 seconds and then off. It's close to the port outrigger and it starts whacking at it. Drop back and try to come tight and it's not there. We are starting a right turn and I'll be darn if he then takes a couple of whacks at my way back center line lure and then is gone!! (All 3 lures were blue/white Ilinder's w/ballyhoo). We were in 4-440 ft of water out from the nipple. Decided to run south to an area that I've had some luck on wahoos, (big mistake). By this time the northwest wind is really freshened with no sign of turning to the southwest as forecasted. Around 12:30 decided to do a fast troll towards OB and have the waves close together and head on. Only able to do 8-10 mph. After an hour of doing this, decide to check the course to Pensacola and able to do 18-20 mph; so head that way. (see my mistake in leaving the nipple?). Kept watching a build up east of the pass on radar and about three miles from the outer bouy, it starts raining heavy in the pass and could hear thunder in it. Radar shows it's moving west and it's clear out to the east. Decide to go back out SE and wait it out. Finally come in behind it but bucking some more high winds coming off from the storm from the west!! Damn that weather man!! All's well that ends well, I guess.
