Lauched at Navy Point around 6:30 with my soon to be wife, mom and step dad, made two bait stops and headed out looking for grouper and amberjack. First stop was slow but ended up with two red grouper the next 5-6 spots not much either a couple nice scamp. Finally we hit a good spot got 4 amberjacks anywhere from 14-19 pounds and two more red grouper biggest one around 11 pounds, had some hook ups with some that we couldn't do anything with. Made a few more deep water stops gota few more scamp and one 12 pound gag grouper. Headed toward state water at 2:30 made it to the spot and had 8 red snapper within 30 minutes anywhere from 18" to five pounds.
Final tally: 4 amberjack 4 red grouper 1 gag grouper 4 scamp 8 red snapper 1 mingo |

How did you rig for the grouper and what bait did you take out??
Public or private spots? Great pics. I am after grouper today and tomorrow. I have a few live bottom spots. I plan on chumming and having some live bait....hopefully. Thanks for the post...sounds like an awesome day. Good luck with the soon to be in laws. |

Thanks, for all the replies, grouper rig consisted of a 6' mono with a 13/0 circle hook, and assortment of live bait, i hope the spots are still private.
