Default Our first kings, great morning, 7/3

My son and I picked up some fresh cigar minows from Hot Spot's today andwent out about 9AM to try our hand at trolling forkings. I figured we would go out and back on the bouy line from the pass and see what happens. Lines in the water just outside the pass and bang! Port pole bends over and comes right back up. Reeled it in to find half a cigar minnow. We figure at least there are fish around. Out by bouy 1 and 2 we hooked up on a school of kings and limit out in less than an hour. Most fish were returned, but kept one to try on the grill. It was nice to put some fish onboard and see my son enjoying himself with the drags running on our lite tackle. Not too crowded either.

That is what it is all about fishing with your son and family.

Great trip and photos. Thanks. What time of day did you catch the kings? Sometimes I cannot go out early and wonder if anyone is catching kings there (Pass and #3. #4, #1. #2) in the middle of the day.

That waswhat was odd about this trip. We were slaying em in the middle of the day. At least odd for us cause we usually do best near shore in the mornings and evenings.
