Default Failed snapper trip

I don't have the opportunity to get out and fish much so I and a buddy tried to get some red snapper before the season closed. Launch at Navy Point to glass calm waters in the bay. If anybody was going to go offshore, today would've been the day to go. Forecast called for around 2 feet but it was more like less than one. anyway, hit some bouys with the sabiki and got a few hard tails and some baby red snapper. Headed out to the public numbers and got a trigger, of course. Caught some of the luckiest fish ever as they were all closed or too short. Every single fish. But, we caught fish and a good day on the water.

Even though we didn't get any keepers, it was good to back on the water.

I've been itching to go myself. Looks like you guys had a busy day either way.

We were busy! Probably caught an eight person limit of snapper but they were all 12-15.5 inches.

Muttons not usually, they were probably juvenile Red Snapper( they have a dark spot). Lanes all the time, yellow stripes. Look at your pic of the juvy Red, you can see the spot.

No pics of the fish in question but it was likely a lane.
