Default Edge Trolling Saturday the 28th

Headed to the Edge on a buddy's boat. Was nice leaving Perdido Pass but the waves started to build around the thunder storms. We dodged the storms all morning.

Got to about the Edge and the GPS unit was set up for a weird position format. So the numbers I plugged in were way off. Got close and put out some lines.

A big storm with water spouts and nasty lightning sat right on top of the Edge so we trolled west. I decided to reload my trolling reel to lay the line down better. After a few minutes something hits as I'm cranking in line. Must have had a half-mile of braid out.

The fish felt heavy and of course, my forearm cramps up. (Low sodium diets suck.) Handed the rod off and watched the battle. Not a huge fish but a nice blackfin. Stuck the gaff and we had one in the boat.

That was it for the day. Had a few more hits but nothing stuck. And the waves continued to build. Bounced on home in some sloppy stuff. My bud's boat is a 27 ft Sea Hunt and it handled the slop really well. It's on my next boat list.

Here's a picture of the aftermath of the blackfin -- cooked up on the BGE. It was delicious.

Thanks for the report. There has been some nasty storms out there lately. Glad y'all caught some grub and made it home safe.
