Default Canyon Report??

Hello all! New here to the forum and excited about the information I may be able to obtain here as well! My brother and I are fairly new to offshore fishing and bought a 27 ft Wahoo with twin mercs about two years ago. Addded outriggers and in the process of adding a lowrance HDS 10 as well. Weve got a trip planned for the second week in march to try our luck at some offshore fishing. As a tradition we usually just drive to PCB and go from there but recently weve learned of the canyon not far off Pensacola beach! Anybody have any reports or know what we might run into during that time of year? Thanks!!

I think what he means is closer. it is closer to pensacola pass than the others, but he probably talking about the edge and the nipple. other than venice we are the closest to water over 600'

weather can be hit or miss in march, we fish as far out as the edge and catch plenty of fish, the only thing about bottom fishing those dates is pretty much all grouper are closed till april 1st so you'll be targeting AJ's, mingo, porgies, triggers. Cobia should be starting to show up. I don't have any experince but i don't think the trolling it that great till the water hits the mid 70's but like i said i'm no expert in that area (or any for that matter). But truth is there is always something to catch if your headed off shore, only came home empty handed a couple of times and that was due to horrible weather and horribly inaccurate forcast, never would have went out.

Providing the weather permits we were planning on trying to troll some for maby wahoo or Kings. Hoping to maby get lucky on some tuna! Like i said were new to it and still trying to catch on! We figured if the trolling ends up being a waste of time or non productive we can always jig for amberjacks! If all we can get is grouper or snapper thats fine too, well toss em back in and at least go home with smiles!

Thats what were hoping for! Weve been keeping a real close eye on water temps, wind and currents! If it keeps up like its been I think it should turn out pretty preductive! All and all I will be sure to keep yall posted on the outcome!
