had a 12 hour trip with 9 guys today. headed southeast for about 40 miles. weather was great and the gulf almost flat. first spot i ran my butterfly jig down and hooked up right away. we caught more than 30 25-27,9 in ajs and one legal one. the guys had a blast and my arm is damn tired... on the next spots we loadd up on mingos, trigger, pogys. got 5 red groupers and a nice king. on the way back we got our snapper limit in less than 20 minutes with all of them more than 19in. the wind and the waves picked up on the way in. i just got back from cleaning the fish. i guess me had more than 100 pogsy, mingos and triggers.

I launched out of Destin Pass and ran 15 miles ESE to 100' depths. First drop with a threadfin and Bam. Got a strawberry that went around 15# (28"L). Dropped anchor and caught three more strawberries. All would have been keepers if they weren't so endangered. It's amazing this year. I've caught more nice red snappers and red groupers than ever, yet you can't keep __it. Got one nice king on a flyline. Trolled back for two hours without a bite. Almost all the action was on threadfins. Two of the strawberries coughed up the bait plus another that they had gotten on earlier bites. Talk about aggressive. It was a blast out there by myself and two dogs, except for having to release nice fish. Oh well, at least got some nice fillets. Will post pics tomorrow. My digital camera quit working, so gotta get "film" developed. What a drag.
