Default 5/24 8 hour trip destin

we had a 8 hour today. on the way east around 8 miles from shore we got the first wahoo this year. we got em on a blue purple yozuri with a trolling lead attached. it weighted around 25 lbs so nothing big but still good fish. caught our snapper limit in 25 minutes- the first fish at the spot was a 15 lbs gag grouper on 2 hook rig.. so it started really good. the snappers were fat and all pretty big. didnt have to measure a single one- all over 20 in. moved a little and caught some mingos, snappers and scamp. we got more than 10 scamps but only could keep 2. some triggers mixed in too. the weather was awesome and bait was on the surface all the time. on the last stop we hooked into a bull shark. the one guy that hooked him fought it for more than 50 minutes untill i got the gaff in his gills. weighted around 150-170 lbs. we called it a day and headed back. saw a lot of turtles baitfish on the way back. around 10 miles from east pass we ran over a nice cobia which i just spotted about 10 yards from the bow, so i had no time to react... had a really good trip on a beautiful day.

stayed till 6 pm at the docks and watched the memorial spectacle going on in the harbor. tomorrow we have a 12 hr and ill bring my shark aka butterfly jigging rod:letsparty:letsparty

Great report. Sounds like fun was had by all. Man the water looks REALLY clear along the beaches. Doesn't suprise me you found a hoo "inshore". Things are heating up out there with this good push of water. Good luck on your 12 hr. Can't wait to here how the butterfly jiggin' went.
