I just canceled my trip that I was going to do tomorrow. I was going to go out in the 2-4 forecast because of the last day of federal snapper season. But now the forecast is calling for 4-6'. Not going out in that for sure.

That is because of the Depression off Louisiana. I hope it lays down for Wednesday.

I am new to snapper fishing so bear with me. You can still fish for red snapper until Sept 30 in FL waters which is what, 9 miles? I have never really paid attention to the regs, because I never had a boat, so ne need to know the state/fed line and never looked at the season end because I never fished FL after July.
I'll be coming down the 22-24 and have some #'s that are 5-7 miles off shore. I'm still good right? And there is no season on the other snappers, just reds. Is that correct? |

http://sero.nmfs.noaa.gov/bulletins/2008_bulletins.htm
they change the rules so often you have to get the bulletins to stay updated. http://myfwc.com/marine/ the one just above is for state regs. the one at the top is fed. (9 nautical miles)=(10.36 statute miles) the federal season is now closed you have to keep within 9 nautical miles to keep red snapper. there are a lot of snapper in that zone. hope this helps |
