im new to town... i have seen some posts saying petronius is closest but it is 70 miles others saying it is 54 miles

can anyone clear it up

Depends on the pass you leave out of but it is 70 out of P'Cola.

darwin.. why because i want to go fish .... i dont have the range your 33' does.... but im willing to do what i can with what is available ... plus its my friends boat and he is comfortable with it out that far

Petron is 67 miles from Pensacola Pass as indicated. You could obvously shave a bit off that going out of Perdido but not exact on distance (55 maybe). Thats it in terms of closest deep water rigs.

If I remember correctly, Petronius is 61 miles out of Perdido Pass. That's pretty much the closest area to consistently find tuna action. If you are unsure about your range and think a trip to Petronius might be pushing it, please consider that this is the most unforgiving time of year to fish offshore. The north winds kick up the seas something fierce this time of year, and, of course you would be taking it it head-on returning to the pass, should that happen. Sure wouldn't figure Sea Tow into my float plan...

I think some of you are speaking in nautical miles versus statute miles. From perdido pass its about 64 NM or about 72 SM if i'm not mistaken.

Where's Tom Hilton at? He could tell you exactly how far and at what heading.

Damn Bryan, I guessI was typing at the same time. Like Bryan says, its a long way if you have any uncertainties. Plan around good weather for your first trip to get a better bead on what is safe for your vessel but more importantly, your crew. Theres no "Lets just go back" once your 40 plus miles outin nasty seas.

Im with you... 61 regular miles from Perdido... Heck no! Its got to be more like 75! Shoot the Ram P is 85 miles straight south of D.I.
