When do the kings start showing up in the Pensacola area? I have been fishing Destin but have gotten tired of fighting the crowd, also where is a good place to anchor for the night close to the pass. I am looking a putting in at Shoreline Park South.
THANKS IN ADVANCE |

The magic number is 70 degrees. When the water reaches that they will be here in full force.

Like george said, 70 degress is about right and it will only get better later throught he spring. It typically will get a little more scattered when the water hits its highest temps in late July and August and then as the temps go down through the fall you'll usually see the biggest kings of the year come through around september through early november.

Generally around the middle of April but the big ones will show up in May.

also for an over night stay, you can anchor up at Fort McRae, which is right at the pass.....

i think it may be may before we start seeing the kings this year. unless that water warms up real fast. you actually have an advantage fishing the kings out of destin. you will see them earlier and for some reason with much more frequency. (i am basing this on reports that i have gotten for the last two years from capts in your area). the beaches over there really hold some good kings early. i haven't been able to figure out why though... but once they make it to pcola, it's on for sure. 70-74 degrees is the magic setting provided the bait is here too..

Thanks for all the Info guys !! I can't wait for the weather to warm up and the water. How busy does the ramp at Shoreline park get? Also any other suggestions on launch ramps close to the pass I will be coming out of Calera, AL launching early on Saturday morning and staying the night on the boat roughing it.
