So tie my braid to the solid ring? I have no problems tieing heavy braid its just heavy mono.

Ah, I see. Where can I get solid rings? I'm using a barrel swivel on the split ring so I'm not tying my leader right to the split ring. I also attach the assist hook directly to the split ring. I tried using doubled up 85# braid, but it broke off first time a fish hooked up.

Make sure you get solid welded rings and not stamped solid rings.
