Default hook removal

I was wayching a fishing show on blab tv and I thought I heard them say that a pair of blout nose pliers can be usedas a hook removal tool and that a pair of needle nose pliers was not allowed.also they said to go to barnes feed store and buy a needle and take the plunger out and use for a venting tool, any truth to this?

To first answer the QUESTION...Actually it's true. You can. But as I read the law(pliers as a de-hooker) doesn't follow the requirement by law. A de-Hooker prescribed by law is so easy to make, why not just make one. The venting tool is another matter.

Pliers...NO.....Neeedle...YES

Venting tool - go to Walmart or BassPro and buy a turkey injector...file the tip so it's a straight tube...costs about $3.00...works like a champ
