The last 2 trips we caught hardtails around the channel markers on sabikis, use the larger ones with a squid trailers.

Sabikis.

For the bigger ones further out & offshore, we're getting them with small hopkins spoons with bucktails, crippled herring spoons, and bubble rigs with clarkspoons.

i threw a cast net on the saturday at the number 2 channel marker in the pass. just shut your boat down a few yards away and drift over them. when you catch them leave your net in the water and scoop under it with a landing net. and release the bait into it that way you dont hurt dumping them out on the deck you can go right to the live well with them.

if its not real rough i can throw the 12 but i usually throw an 8 just be careful not to get your net under the boat if u get a bunch of bait it will get heavy and will pull u over the side. and i dont do this alone too dangerous.
