Default Chum

Do you all make or buy your chum? I've been wanting to make my own but I'm not sure what would be best to use... Also, how do let it out, in a chum bag??

I made a few bags last year in one sitting. I buy it now.

Here's what I did. Buy a bag of dry cat food and run it through a grinder. Take fish carcusses, guts, scrapsand grind them. Get some menhadden fish oil. In a gallon ziplock bag place some cat food, pour some oil over the top, place some grinded fish mush on top, then more cat food and soak with more oil. Freeze it.Then dump into mesh bag when ready. Works great but not for those with a weak stomach or a strong one for that matter.

We use chum logs (from Boater's World) & putthem in a rectangular chum cage that we won at the Saltwater Sportsman Seminar in Niceville last year. :-) Before we won that cage, we usedthose potato-type sacks....

It was last January @ the college there. Saltwater Sportsman Seminar Series (I'm 98% sure that was the name of it.) We went just to see our old friend Jimmy Price (crazy man - but smart when it comes to Flounder fishing) - had no idea we'd win about $100 worth of door prizes. :-) They hadthatseriesagain this year but I don't think it cameanywhere near here..?

i second the chum churn. only thing is it doesnt sink like frozen chum made with sand. but you cant beat the price of the chum churn holicaust when you stock up with a freezer of menhaden when thier thick in the fall.
