What is the best formula for brining and how long should it take?
Also, for bonito strips, approx. how much longer can they be fished effectively vs fresh cut strips? Thanks for any help. Please excuse my ignorance. |

Filet the bonito then shave the filet to about 1/4 or 3/8 inch thick. Use pickling salt and completely coat the filet. You can stack them in a ziplock, double bag. Put in refrigerator for a few days, pour the water off, then in freezer. Trolling strips will last until they get hit. The filets are also good for triggers and bait fishing for grunts and red porgies. Small strips are great for school dolphin. Unused filets/strips/cut baitwill keep forever if refrozen after each trip.
