Default HPS lights and a question about something Im working on

For you guys with HPS lights, I've got a few questions

How much did your setup cost?

How many lumens of light does your setup put out?

What is required to run it ? ( batterys, generator, electronics box, etc )

Would a 10,000 lumen setup that was submersible, runs cool, and runs off a single marine battery be of interest? Electronics has been a hobby of mine since I was 16 and Im 39 now, and I've been tinkering with something I think could provide what I described at a pretty low cost.

As far as i know HPS (High presure sodium) lights are AC voltage only, So you would need a gen or a battery/inverter setup. I know they are sort of like a flourescent light in that it takes a while for them to start up, like your street light. I talked to you about my set up already, i borrowed your idea to change the bulbs on the starfire lites to 100 watts they are brite. Even with 2 100watt bulbs the battery will still last about 5 1/2 hours. With my set up it will put out about 2000 lumens. I did some research and the HPS bulbs put out aprox 100 lumens per watt thats good, 100 watts = 10,000 lumens. That would have to be a boat set up. Plus the color of the light is kinda orenge color.

Yep.

A 150watt HPS puts out 16,000 Lumes.

A 400watt HPS puts out 51,000 Lumes

A 300watt Halogen puts out 5000 Lumes

A 500watt Halogen puts out 9500 Lumes

This will help you.
