How is gigging in fall and winter

I'm really starting to dig this flounder gigging thing and I want to keep it up in winter.

I know what you mean! I've been told that there are still males that hang out in the winter in our bays but I am still trying to find a limit. I know it used to be pretty cool walking around in the Gulf when we'd wade for them, and we'd stick some doormats!

by far the best time of the year...the fish stack up around the passes during the fall spawning migration and then head offshore

They do stack up thick around the passes when the water makes the magical drop in temperature. But it doesn't last for very long. You will get the biggest fish you have gotten all year though because of the weight they have put on for the spawning run. I got one on December 12 last year that weighed 7.1 lbs along with several other nice ones, none less than 3 lbs. I love it, its cool, no bugs and believe it or not if you find the right spot the competition seems to be a lot thinner to.
