Went out to PB at about 1100 and fished till about 1630. Caught 23 ladyfish, 2 nasty cats, 17 hard tails, and one fish that i have no idea what it was. Must have been a big school of hardtails cause i would walk out to the sand bar, cast and have a fish on before i could get two steps back towards the shore. So intstead of making the treck back and forth I just filled my pocket with shrimp and stayed out on the bar for about an hour pulling the hardtails in one by one. Those were the first Hardtails I've ever caught, they were fun to fight on my light gear. Some kids next to me saw howI was doin and they went to work with some Gotchas and were killin 'em to. Good times....other than neglecting to put sunscreen on my face..........pain.

Congrats on the fish! Sounds like you had a great day. One thing to think about though is watch out for putting your bait in your pocket and walking through water.I believe a couple of years ago there was a guy fishing with shrimp in his pocket and got attacked by a shark. He ended up losing his leg. Remember, sharks are in as little as 2 to 3 feet of water.

Anyway, congrats and good luck on your future fishing trips! Tight lines.

Yeah, I thought about that after the fact.

I was visiting Pensacola Beach last week and the week before and the ladyfish, blue runners & spanish would hit the beach every day around 5:00pm - chasing the glass minnows. Best day I would say I caught around 40 fish, most of them ladyfish and blue runners, but did manage 4 spanish that day as well.

I was wading out to the first sandbar and casting a small "flex-it" spoon (prism metallic color) on a penn 4400 loaded with 8lb test.

Nothing glamorous, but it was the most action I have ever had surf fishing.

good luck!
