Decided to go out despite the sketchy forecast today.

Got 6 packs of frozen fleas from Hot Spots on my way out. Nice place, first time there, I'll surely go back to look around whenI have more time.

Started setting my four lines out right at 6am. Wind wasn't bad. I could see bands of storms moving in all across the Gulf. Surf was also really tame. When I started the seaweed hadn't moved in so much and the water was super clear.

A forearm sized lady fish hit my second setup on the first cast. At that point I was pretty sure what my day was gonna be like.

An hour or so later I reeled in a teensy sail cat, and that was it for the day. I left around 10am. The water was dead, but the wind had built the waves a little and the weed was getting on each setup. I didn't see much in the water except what I thought was a 2ft black tip.

Hunkered down through two rain spats. No lightening.

This was the first trip to the beach with my new Costas. Permit 580's with silver mirror. Man I love having good glass. I wont hype Costa's up like a rook, but wow. Good glass.

It was cool meeting up with surfish. Nice guy. He left and said he was going to Pickens where he could cast with the wind to his back. Hope he had better luck.
