Default Bucket full of whiting

Had a small window this AM to wet a line, so off to the beachI went. With the SW wind and approaching front I felt optimistic. The plan was to pick up some shrimp from Half-Hitch then rake fleas for bait. I found a nice wash and hole about a 1/2 mile W of the pier. There seemed to be a band of dirty water running along the back of the bar and some weed/debris in close to shore.I staggered my lines in the clean water and immediately began bringing in whiting. Most were in the hole about 65-75 yds from shore. I ran out of bait in an hour and 45 minutes. I kept 6 whiting from 12-16" and released 3 others of similar size and a half dozen or so smaller ones.I never did find any fleas so I packed up and left them biting. Made it home by12, and I'm planning on having some fresh po' boys' for the big Saints game tonight. Something funny did happen while I was out there. There was a small shark patroling the area I was fishing and he took about 12 inches off a nice whiting and let me reel in the head. 10-20 minutes later he clipped the tail off another and as I skied the fish in he took another chunk off from behind. Anyway, it was cool to watch. Tight lines.

Sounds like you had a pretty fun time getting the lines wet. And the Whiting Po-Boys for the game I bet were awesome!

Should have rigged up some steel leader and seen if you could hook up that little toothy.

Nice job,
