Default Big Drum in the surf at night

I made it out the beach around 4 pm and set up just west of the campground at Ft. Pickens. For the next two hrs, I couldn't buy a bite with fresh mullet and shrimp. The sunset and moon rise were epic though!! Took some great photos!

I then moved north towards Pensacola Beach and set up at a good hole around dark. After a 10 min soak w/ fresh mullet, my big rod went off zzzzzzinggg!! Whatever I had on the other end was heading for Mexico!! Good thing I had my new Penn Battle 6000 on the rod. After a 15 min fight, I landed a nice 37-38" drum and snapped a few pics by myself. My first red drum after moving to FL 4 weeks ago and my biggest to date!! Oh my heart was racing!!

I did manage to catch about 12 cats and a small blue before my rob went zzzzzzzingggggg an hr later!! This fish was noticeably bigger from the start and took several 50-75 yd runs!! After an awesome fight, I landed a nice 39-41" inch red drum (no tape on hand but measured using my rod). I couldnt believe it!! What an awesome fish!! Snapped some more pics and back she went!! All in all, what a great night with little to no wind!! Fresh mullet is the trick!! I'll be back every night this week haha

Photos not working but soon to follow

Grats on your first Red! When I moved here in August, I got my first big Red and I have been hooked ever since. Tight Lines.
