I recently picked up a 4500 series Shimano Baitrunner reel. I'm looking to spool it with 20-25# line and mostly use it for surf fishing, maybe some pier fishing. What kind of rod would you all suggest for this? I'd like something that would be a sort of "in between rod" for the two previous locations. Also, what do yall think about the proposed line weights? Thanks in advance for all advice,
Dave |

The line weight should be fine. For the rod I'm not really sure what specific kind would be best, but it might be helpful to go into a tackle shop and just look at the different rods that feel right to you.In my opinion, a 9' rod would be good for length if you will probably use it off of the pier also. If you end up using it strictly for surf fishing, a longer rod would be better.
