Finally got enough time from work to get out with my 7 year old and spend some quality time doing what we love. Woke up early and was a little discouraged from the thunderstorm, but we picked up some shrimp and the clouds parted. Perfect day from that point on. Fished the Navarre bridge for a few minutes and then the small canals, got 3 just under sized trout and my son who always gets at least one red, got one rat. We then went further down into the sound and my son got his 1st keeper trout, he was holding my rod while I was putting another shrimp on his line, and my popping cork vanishes, he starts reeling and lands the fish all by himself, not sure who had the bigger smile. The one trout was not very much to eat but it sure was better than the Gorton's fish stix that my younger son wanted to eat instead.

Well done dad! It's awesome to see a father teaching his boy respect for our passion/fisheries!

Kids who fish and hunt don't do drugs and steal! Well done, dad!

Thanks guys, ya I try to get him out as much as possible, he can name just about every fish species you can catch around here. I agree, fishing and hunting are 2 of the best things you can show your kids how to do, they love it and for them and me it provides the best memories. Now I am looking forward to teaching my one month old daughter how to fish.

Years ago my, now 21year old, daughter asked me to show her how to work on her truck. I did and last week she had to change her boyfriend's tire because he didn't know how. she is now looking for a new boyfriend. Teach your kids. I've got five and I am close with all of them.
