Default Saturday Windy Red Report

1st, I apologize for pic quality...I left my camera at the condo, and had to use camera phone.

Left Little Sabine around 8am, it was just howling at 5:30 am soI slept in. Figured I'd be lucky to find 1 red!

Headed to some docks and broken docksout of the East wind, 3rd cast 22" red. 2.5lbs!

Later caught a FAT 21" red that weighed 3lbs....threw him back!

Power Pole...did I sayPower Pole, without the power pole to hold me in place with this wind, my day would have been like about 10 other guys that drifted quickly past me and caught nothing. I found some big mullet and hung with them between about 5 sets of docks.

Never went more than 200 yds from my 1st dock in the 4 hours I fished.

TOTAL

8 slot reds boated, 1 lost boatside....all slots were lower end, no studs, but tons of fun!!

1 was gut hooked 19.5"and floated back up after I nursed him for about5minutesso I harvested him!

2 Rat reds

2 flounder, 1 keeper about 2.5 lbs

Every fish was caught on 1/8oz jighead with Gulp Jerk Baits, new baits did the best!! Live bait caught ZERO fish!!

I was also checked by the FWC today, very nice guys, very friendly, everything I do is legit, absolutley no issues!

Happy RED fishing guys, this is the time of year it begins to heat up!!!

Had good results in my neck of the woods to Mr. BP. But I fished a lot less time than you(and a few less fish). And yes, w/out the power pole, it would have been next to impossible to fish in that wind.

Capt. Rivers - it is well worth the money if you fish in water less than 8 ft deep.

Capt. John Rivers (9/20/2008)I've been thinking about putting a power pole on my boat, but they are a bit $$

I've seen the stake kind where you just throw it in and it sticks and then you tie off and still hold position.
I don't know anyone who has used it, but it sounds like it should work for water 5 ft or less.

Thanks for the report and congrats on the reds.

Tight Lines..
Hi John....1st thanks, you posted somethingrecently that intrgiued and reminded me of something, it helped me catch some fish today

Power Pole-

Here's the deal, 3x I used my remote to power pole up and move...bam...and caught ared just after....had to use remote control to powerpole back down, a-soI didn't blow over the school ...b- so I could catch the fish without blowing into a dock.

How do you do that with the other model?? Unless of course, you fish like a chinese fire drill...oke

I'll talk to Tony, I think he has one left in stock, and see what he can do for you.

I've only fished on a boat with a Power Pole two times butI have to say they are pretty nice and probably worth theextra money if you are going toinvest in a boat. In for a dime, in for a dollar...

Great report! Glad you got some fish andhad a good experience with the FWC.
