Default Jetty Report

Since I cant spearfish the jettys I thought I would pass this along to you Hook and LINERS. I dove the Mcree jettys yesterday and it was holding some nice grouper. They were in tight on the rocks hanging at around 20 feet. Ran across a few in the 15lb range. Lots of nice keepers.

Thanks for the info. Why can't you spearfish the jetties? Part of Ft. Pickens Aquatic Preserve?

You May NOT Spearfish (Excluding bowfishing and gigging):

Spearfishing of marine and freshwater species in freshwater is ¦¦prohibited. Possession of a spear gun in or on freshwater is also prohibited.

Within 100 yards of a public swimming beach, any commercial ¦¦or public fishing pier, or any part of a bridge from which public fishing is allowed.

Within 100 feet of any part of a jetty that is above the surface ¦¦of the sea?except for the last 500 yards of a jetty that extends more than 1,500 yards from the shoreline.

Guys I'm sorry I don't know where they are at but can someone explain to me where the Ft. Mcrae jetties are? Are they on the gulf side or the intercoastal side? I found the fueling station by Mcrae/NAS and the jetties by the Ft. Pickens pier but they only produced small grouper. Any help finding them would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

The rock jetties almost always hold fish, I think, but they can be hard to fish when the tide is ripping. The Macrae Jetty is an anchor eatin' place- I left two anchors there this summer. Here is something I did pull off the jetty, though. Good fishing to all- Ed Mashburn
