Well, it finally happened for my wife and I, we had a GREAT fishing day. We have been learning and leaning and catching one or two each trip but nothing like yesterday. We took my daughter and her husband on a trip to the Lousiana marsh to catch reds. We ended up with 28 specks (had to have thrown back over 100) 12 reds and 2 black drum. The day was almost prefect, light wind and cooler temps.

Beautiful sunrise to start the day.

My daughters first redfish, if you look you can see red boils in the background. We were site fishing for the reds and what a blast.

Group shot.

The water clarityin the marsh and ponds was crystal clear; you could see the spots on the redfish. In the large lakes the water was muddy. We were in Black Bay for a while but did not do anything as the water was dirty.

The Redfish Team Trail had their tournement this weekend. Two fish weighing 13# 6oz took NINTH. Everyone was on fish most of the day. My friend caught 7 reds over 30". What a day.

Hope it is the same when you go.

Jim

I'm a transplant from Louisiana to the Pensacola area after Katrina. Definitely, LA is Sportsman's Paradise and has the best redfish habitat on earth.

Did you fish with Capt Gene? It looks like you launched from where he keeps his boat.

I arranged it though Capt Gene, but went with Capt Nate. Of the three Capts with guide trips that day Capt Nate was the only one that found fish. The others would come to where he was to catch fish.
