Default great inshore action!

well I havent been posting my inshore trips lately but i figured it was due. got out to my favorite spot around sunset. sat patiently tying leaders while soaking a bait on a medium action rod. right before the sunset a had a hard bang, and zip. drag was singing the sweet song. fought like a big sail cat. but no. a small blacktip just out for a sundown stroll. said hello and cut the leader.i knew it was time to post up and get to business.it was pretty slowat first and was only catching some croakers and BIG pigfish"grunts". was a couple hours into this by now and new the bite was about explode. i said to myself, the reds will be thick at this light in about 20 minutes. and then like magic the light turns off.WTF???oh well. move on to the next one.floated up and saw the topwater action was picking up. threw some shrimp out to my right. and tossed a gulp molting to my left. bam!!! speck on. not bad, a keeper but let him go for good luck. yeah luck!pitch again and wham! another speck. just about to get him calmed down when my other rod starts singing. felt the tention and knew it was a red. damnit! i hate it when this happens.double hookupand anchor line out. im keeping tention on the red while biting the other rod and reeling it one hand style. speck aboard. and he threw the hook just as he got in the kayak. ok your going overboard, bye-bye. went back to the red. landed him after a short hangup with the anchor line. 18 3/4"not bad. on the stringer he goes.continued the same setups, baitsand presentation. all in all.

13 specks landed, 8 released, 11 were slot . all in the 16" to 20" range. 1 over 20"

3 reds landed, 2 released, all slot. all just over 18" . wanted bigger, but didnt happen.

was a good night, and its almost 3 am. going to bed.

tight lines. Capt. Ollie, Bloody Waters Kayak Fishing Team

thanks guys,

if any one wants to tag along sometime, i'd be more than happy to take someone yakking.

just as long as you bring the neccesary items to fish with.

your own tackle, rod and reel, bait and a license to slay! lol

Capt. Ollie.

What kind of light do you use (to be legal) on your yak?

most of the peeps i know rock a white glowstick and a flashlight. i personally use a 100 lumens headlamp instead of a flashlight. thats only due to the fact that i currently have a tiny yak and always miss the good deals.

any 360 degree dome light works. i have suction cup lights on mine, 15$ a piece and run off 2 d-size batteries.

they last a long time too. you can also get the same deal with a bracket mount that can be atteched to your crate.

I'm thinking about buying some of that reflective tape. like the material you see on traffic vests. and putting a strip on the sides of my paddle.

Man, you were truly into them that trip! Way to go! The double hook upsto me are a blast! I try to figure out which one has a Redfish on it, and thats the one I dedicate to, then I'll reel in the other rod. That report has me wanting to go after work! This time of year is great for fishing the bays and bridges.
