Tim and I had the itch to go wet a line for a few flounder today. Tried for a half hour with no luck from the flat fish. So we tried the pass for redfish. No luck again . One more fish to try and catch so off to the rocks in about 45 feet for a chance to catch dinner. We ended up catching over 20 grouper in the 12 to 20 inch range two keepers in the picture. And a heck of alot of broken line. Not bad for 2 hours. I will admit Tim was the grouper master today. My 12 # line was no match for what was below us. But we had a good day and caught dinner to boot. Our bait was live mullet the bigger the better. Hint on the spot less then 150 yards from the # 13 bouy in the P cola pass. See you all out there. Gene

Sweet job on the grouper! Since the storm, I have seen tons of em inshore, all schooled up together, but all looking like they just may or may not be legal...so I havent shot any.
Cant wait for winter when ther all dumb like and ready to be shot! |

anchored up between rock jetties in pass last night. Using cig. minnows (frozen) and mainly squid. caught a mixed bag, lots of cat fish, croakers, small pup shark, undersized tripple tail, undersized grouper, and three slot reds about 23" long. Kept reds and released all others. Me and two exchange students. Also had several breakoffs on relative heavy equipment. dan

Hey Gene, great report. Sorry I missed you last weekend. Your wife said that you had stopped by but I must have already been working in the back and didn't hear you. You guys know how to catch them no matter where ya go. Anyways that saw was a great help in my project, thank you for hooking that up for me.
