Default Fished the Nick's Tournament

Fished the Nick's tournament this past Saturday. It was a no boundaries tournament so we headed to West Bay. Found a school of very large fish (30+ inches) that were very spookish. Cloudy and overcast made it difficult to get a bait in front of them without them seeing us first. Broke one fish off, no idea how, and got another large fish to the boat, which was over the slot. Fished that area for 2-3 hours and decided to try somewhere else.

(looking at the monster)

Headed to the next area and fished hard. Jimmy managed to put one fish in the boat that was in the 22" range (4lb 2oz). No other fish to be found.

Moved to the next area and found no luck. Then to the next area, no luck except one small fish.

Then to the next area, nothing. Didn't even spook a fish in any of the areas we fished other than the first spot. Frustrated, we decided to head to the Choctawatchee Bay at about 1:30. Tossed our one fish back since we knew he wouldn't cut it on the scales even if we caught another large fish. On the way to the ramp, the super storm came through.

After the storm went through we had about 4 hours of fishing time left. Caught a bunch of fish and managed to get 2 in the slot. New it wouldn't even be close, but we wanted our T-shirt.

Bad luck day, but fished all artificials and weighed in fish, so I guess it wasn't a horrible showing, just not what we were hoping for.

(fish getting ready to be tagged)

Our final weight 8.5 lbs. 1st place was at 14.4lbs HUGE! 2nd was 14.2, and 3rd was 13.8 I think. Not sure where the big ones were caught.

What do they call it now, the "door knob", cause everyone gets a turn. It was packed by 8am. I bet those fish get hammered on.

It wouldnt get hammered if the IFA wouldnt put up videos of all there tournaments and if everyone would keep it quiet when they find a good fishing spot. Yeah loads of reds gather in breakfast point pond but it's useless to even try and fish there if your not one of the first boats out in a tournament. I feel sorry for those fish in the pond. They never get a break.Go to the IFA website and click on the video of the championship on the first and secondday and you will see why everyone fishes there.
