I have several trips scheduled for the balance of the week so I knew that finding fish was number 1 on my agenda. I grabbed my dad and we hit the bay at around 6:30 hoping to find the normal schools of trout that are always in blackwater bay. After hitting our 6th spot we realized that we were not going to find them in the usual spots. Guess all the rain water has them mixed up!We decided to make a6 milerun southtoa bankthat usually produces good fish. As we arrived we were greeted with lots of birds diving which is something I haven't seen in a couple weeks. Dad was the first to hook up catching a21" red. As he got his in the boat my drag started screaming with a fat 26" red. We fished the area for about 15 minutes boating 4 or 5 mid to upper slot reds, and 5 or 6 keeper trout and then left.Action was literally every cast!I didn't want to put to much pressure on the fish with upcoming trips. We hit a few more areas on the way back catching 4 or 5 lower slots and rats, alongwith several small trout.
We also threw the net on 50 silver mullet! Fried fish for lunch! |
