Great catch
and thank you for not being a idiot about keeping the location "secret", like some guy suggested. He will be the fist one to ask everyone for locations to fish.

Very, very nice my friend. Had some luck kinda that way in 2000 while trying to catch Pompano. My best friend actually hooked it. The Cobia hit a and flea on the worst piece of an excuse for a fishing rod & reel we had out there that morning. We were at parking lot #14 well before that damn portafino started going up. Needless to say "Todd in the bay", my very best friend, got this thing 6" from dry sand. My inexperienced dumbbutt just barely touched the line after he'd fought it for almost an hour, & snap!!! The mono come apart @ the little #8 swivel. After getting to our feet we both went in after it. I had to just watch as this 4 foot ling slithered from my arms. I couldn't hold it, man we were tired , the ling was tired. We did limit out on pompano tho. This was back when 10 pompano each were legal. But we hardly spoke the rest of the day of this event. We don't even talk of it today. This was our very first fishing trip together and hadn't known each other more than a day or 2. Your a lucky guy. Congrats & hope you do it again. Absolutley a fantastic catch.

That is one hell of a story. Im sad to hear you lost that fish Sharkbait410. Im thinking about keeping a spear gun with me when I go fishing just for occasions like that. When the fish is in a little bit of water, to big for the net, and your tackle is to light to just pull it up on shore. Just shoot em and drag em in.
