Went down to the bay side of Chiken Bone beach yesterday afternoon to meet up with jdhkingfisher and captainblack to shark fish (none caught). Before they got there I thought I would just throw out a pigfish on the bottom on my lightweight. sat there for about five mintues and then something just slammed it. Doubled the rod over, I set the hook then it was on. Almost spooled me. I was walking through groups of tourists in the water telling then to get out of the way. Some just ignored me and wouldent move
. but i finally got him in close enough to where I could see him and by God it was a COBIA!!!!! Caught this baby on 15 pound test on my lightweight. It was a great fight. He measured 35" at the fork. SO therefore he went in the ice chest. I havent heard of them coming in the bay like that. But im glad this one did. Pictures attached. Cobia picture by JACK70124 - Photobucket |

its not uncommon at all.. just less of often in our area when compared to other areas.. also people keep those catches a little more on the low or location that is!
![]() Good job on getting the beast in! I bet it was fun on light tackle!! |

It seems like about this time and a little later in the year when we catch quite a few in the inter-coastal over here in FWB. Most are under, lots of 31" fish for some reason. Great catch, total score!
