Default Bay Cobia

Went down to the bay side of Chiken Bone beach yesterday afternoon to meet up with jdhkingfisher and captainblack to shark fish (none caught). Before they got there I thought I would just throw out a pigfish on the bottom on my lightweight. sat there for about five mintues and then something just slammed it. Doubled the rod over, I set the hook then it was on. Almost spooled me. I was walking through groups of tourists in the water telling then to get out of the way. Some just ignored me and wouldent move . but i finally got him in close enough to where I could see him and by God it was a COBIA!!!!! Caught this baby on 15 pound test on my lightweight. It was a great fight. He measured 35" at the fork. SO therefore he went in the ice chest. I havent heard of them coming in the bay like that. But im glad this one did. Pictures attached.

its not uncommon at all.. just less of often in our area when compared to other areas.. also people keep those catches a little more on the low or location that is!

Good job on getting the beast in! I bet it was fun on light tackle!!

It seems like about this time and a little later in the year when we catch quite a few in the inter-coastal over here in FWB. Most are under, lots of 31" fish for some reason. Great catch, total score!
