My daughter wants to catch a shark. I've got a boat, so I have access to the bay, and limited access to nearshore gulf. Can anyone tell me if there are still sharks around at this time of year and any tips on catching them?
thanks! |

There are TONS of sharks around still! Went diving wednesday, saw 4, 3 on one dive, and one very pissed off 8 foot hammer on another dive.
Went diving again yesterday, and 3 again on one dive, and 3 again on the next dive, and the second batch was aggresive. Came right to us, Brandy jabbed em with his speargun and made him bleed, he shot off, came back 15 seconds later with friends, and ended up taking Seans grouper that he had on his stringer....bit thru his rope and took the stringer, clips, fish and all. And both dives yesterday, they followed us up to the surface and were hitting the life ring we had tied to a rope for a tag line....nothin but a piece of styrofoam, and they were hittin, there out there. Any wreck, even nearshore will have em. |

Thanks for the report Clay-Doh! She is going out of town for a few weeks, but when she gets back, we will give it a try, as soon as the weather allows. I've got some bonita I've been saving.

1 per person or 2 per boat which ever is less. I think it has to be a min of 12" Sawfishes, Basking Shark, Whale Shark, White Shark, Sand Tiger Shark, Bigeye Sand Tiger Shark, Spiny Dogfish, Manta Ray, and Spotted Eagle Ray are prohibited.

A pretty big (6-8 foot) shark was nabbing caught bonita that were being reeled in Sunday @ the Destin East Jetty. Lots of chop, he came from nowhere, took a huge bite, and swam away.
